Disney Legacy | °o° | 1.2

So here's the deal with this part: I got ahead of myself. At the time that I'm writing this, I've already played well into 1.4. And I didn't keep great notes on gameplay during 1.2 like I did for 1.3 So... this part is going to be more of a summary, k? A quick bring-you-up-to-speed sort of thing.

Walt talks Sorcerer Mickey and, apparently, that sort of thing works for Kaylynn because before long...

Walt continues skilling because I have some sort of obsession with getting my hands on EVERY SINGLE PROMOTION I can AS FAST AS I CAN. It's not even his LTW... But there he is, skilling away in little blue sockies anyway.

And here's Kaylynn who wanders the "house" (neighborhood) in a bed sheet, lol.

You go, Seahorse Mom!

And this seems to be the next picture I took. LOL. Apparently nothing important happened in the past three days. (Does anyone else find that happen during legacies? It goes slower during the dating/marriage, and then once you get onto having kids, all of a sudden you go from two sims to TEN?! A slight exaggeration, but, not much...)

It's a boy!! I debated doing the thing where each generation of kids gets a letter of the alphabet and they all have to be named a Disney character starting with that letter. But honestly, I've played so many like that it seemed boring. I thought about doing one letter per kid, too, but that didn't seem exciting, either.

So instead I made an exciting, dumb decision and started naming the kids after the lands in Disneyland. Because, you know, there's just so many -- a whole EIGHT -- and they make such GREAT baby names.

Anyway, meet Frontier.

He, of course, gets a cool Western-themed nursery.

And then apparently the next time I cared was when he was growing up. Haha.

Ehhh...

A quick makeover and one censor-blur-remover-hack later, we can check out what Frontier really looks like. He's actually sorta cute. Sorta generic, but cute.

Yeah, I don't even know when they made this one... But here's a frozen Kaylynn and her brand new crooked baby... wait for it... Land.

No, I didn't name them Frontier and Land on purpose. A split second after doing it, I realized if I was going to use those names then they should definitely not be done in succession. However, it is what it is. Frontier Disney and Land Disney (also a mistake; also dumb).

The Disneys get their first walls! Because everyone keeps freezing and I got sick of waiting for the game to catch up to all their pale transitions.

But not a roof. Obviously.

Also, this is Frontier. Apparently he grew up. (And is still cute.)

Land as a toddler. (Cute.)

Frontier (now a child) and Land. And you can see the awesome construction I've started to make an awesome Haunted Mansion inspired house for the Disneys.

(Why, yes, those columns were a responsible financial decision! $500 a piece!)

Then this happened...

So this happened... (They took the palm tree of love, btw.)

I don't remember making him, either...

I'm sorry to say that the name I finally went with was... SQUARE... as in New Orleans...

The one-room-house structure means everyone is rejected to the front lawn while anyone bathes in the Splash Mountain tub.

SEAHORSE MOM!! She's my favorite to watch around the house.

If lightning starts your super cool Haunted Mansion inspired house on fire, don't worry. Just call Walt. He'll be right there in his blue sockies.

I DO remember making this one.

Square all grown up... I mean, what can you really expect from a child named Square anyway?

We get rooms!

And so life continues on in the fake, tiki-lit mansion...

I'm happy with what Kaylynn brings to the genetic table. Both boys (Frontier on the left, Land on the right -- when did he grow up?? Oh, yeah, I DON'T KNOW!) look super Walty. It's actually kind of cute that they have a family resemblance. Sims is fake.

And then Walt gets a promotion against a background of his well-loved hot tub and stinky bottles that are left over from when I demolished their one-room house and moved it over and up onto a foundation.

Money in my pocket?

Bills that need to be paid?

Walls that need to be constructed??

Check out the next chapter to see what responsible financial decision I forgo the boring options for.

Disney Legacy | °o° | 1.1

I've been swimming in feels for the Golden Age of Sims 2 this last week... maybe because I recommended the game to someone recently. Anyway, Disney Legacies used to be a thing. I don't know that I ever played one myself, but the Exchange (sob) used to be THE tab open on my browser and there was this one Disney Legacy I read religiously. The only things I remember about it anymore are smustle eyes and a Mother Goose character who started off every chapter (?). Bonus points to anyone who knows at all what I'm talking about.

Anyway, this was one of those weekends where I just wanted to play in-game instead of do photos and stories. So here's a throwback to the Exchange and legacies and, well, my favorite way to spend a weekend.

Meet the founder of this legacy... Walt Disney. I do wish I had some of those layerable face masks in-game. I don't know where those got to... and I'll download some before the next time I launch my game. But in the mean time, I'm pretty happy with how he turned out! He is, of course, based on the young Walt Disney (think 1920's).

I put down some of those good ol' legacy walls with a toilet on one side and kitchen on the other. (Oh, the memories.) Walt gets a fitting job in the business career track and gets to work gaining charisma points.

I forgot how expensive those 6x6 lots are...! By the time I've slapped his "house" together, Walt can't afford a proper stove -- so he gets a grill with a fridge, no counter. No shower, either, so he gets a Splash Mountain bathtub.

Not pictured is Walt's carpool... He's met all the qualifications to go to work and (hopefully) get a promotion today. But right when I send him to the car, the welcome wagon shows up. He heads to greet a couple of them, in case he needs friends for work, but then -- Kaylynn Spitzig brings up the rear of the wagon! She is my go-to-townie in most of my legacies. Seriously, it's embarrassing how many male heirs I have sent her off into the sunset with. I can't help it -- she's got a pretty neutral face template, which I like, especially in this case since Walt's got a pretty neutral face, too, that would be easily dominated.

But I want the Disney kids to actually look like a Disney. So I ex-out of greeting the rest of the neighbors and go straight for Kaylynn. Again. And Walt looks a little too happy about it.

Walt greets Kaylynn just so he has the option of calling her later; hops in the carpool and comes back around sunset after earning a promotion. So naturally, I spend his bonus on a romantic table setting for two and a home phone! You know, so Walt can have his very first conversation with Kaylynn, lol, and invite her over to get married and start the legacy family.

Oh, and the rest of his wages go to buying a counter for him to prep that macaroni on! And a real stove instead of the grill (which he couldn't use anyway for some reason). I may have done some creative deleting (the *cough* walls *cough*) so that I could buy the pretty Tiki Room table... and a palm tree... and a romantic $100 tiki torch... LOL.

Walt's responsible financial decisions mean he spends roughly $200 on the table, $100 on the tiny palm tree of love, and $200 on EACH tiki chair. (Each chair??? That was surprising -- and Walt certainly needed to go to work by the time I finished in the Buy Catalog. But it's a Disney Legacy, so of course he needed some Adventureland-themed furniture!)

And that furniture serves him well! Walt hits it off surprisingly well with Kaylynn...

Well, most of the time, anyway.

(Expansion Packs were always great, but one of my favorite things was when we got new interactions!! I remember cycling through all of these and testing them out. Does anyone remember what expansion pack all of these table interactions even came in?? I remember Hot Date from Sims 1 which added similar options, but I can't remember when these appeared in The Sims 2... Maybe after Nightlife?? Ah, do you guys remember how exciting it was to get CARS for the sims to DRIVE???)

Walt turns out to make THE best facial expressions. He's a bit of an... interesting conversation partner... and date... (Feed the birds, toppings a day!)

...but it looks like it works for Kaylynn! The date quickly moves from macaroni by tiki torch light...

...to massages by moonlight! And, look! There's even a shooting star in the sky! Which is super fitting for a Disney legacy and was actually a neat touch :)

When you wish upon a star... Kaylynn somehow stays all night without Walt having to ask her and without cutting out early! Things might have had to move into the "bathroom" zone of the lot so that some bladder and hygiene needs can be taken care of in between make-out sessions...

But Kaylynn and Walt get along so well that I have to do some more creative deleting (wave goodbye to any wall not attached to plumbing, Walter) to swap that single bed for a double.

Walt could really use a promotion when he goes to work tomorrow... Which is technically today... Wait, it's technically in a couple of HOURS...! He's got $29 after that lavish makeover of his bedroom AND he's got some skills to nab before the carpool comes! But time is running out, both sims have rolled the want to woohoo, AND Walt could be married by the second day of the legacy???

YES PLEASE!

...except their relationship bar is about ten points shy of actually following through with it.

Not a problem -- Walt and Kaylynn spend the next hour (?) pecking and pecking and pecking (yawn). Slowly but surely, their bar reaches that 70/70 benchmark...

...until suddenly, the date's over. The sun's rising. Kaylynn's left. Walt's due to go to work in an hour. No one's slept. No one's eaten since the 7 pm macaroni. No one's engaged. And worse, no one's skilled for work!

Honestly, it's a mad dash, and I don't know how it worked out, but it works out. It goes a little something like this: the second the date's over, Walt is done with Kaylynn! No goodbyes. No bouquets. She's out of Walt's bed, off our lot, and Walt's in the Splash Mountain tub.

With bubbles, of course. Because I highly doubt Walt Disney bathed without bubbles.

And, why yes, that's the carpool idling on the side of the road for the next 59 minutes while Walt jumps in front of the mirror and becomes just enough charismatic for his boss and coworkers to accept him at work again.

A pro... A pro... A promotion??! (Really, I have no idea how this worked out...)

Walt makes more responsible financial decision and blows his bonus AND his wages on a super cool Adventureland tiki bed that matches his dining room table! Which, you know, is actually very important for fung shui in legacies since your bedroom is actually in your dining room and vice versa.

Buuut, he doesn't make it to the nice, new, tiki bed. Walt takes a stinky stink-cloud nap right next to the phone- and toilet-wall instead.

(Seriously, though, how did he get a promotion?? He was awake for 24 hours STRAIGHT, hadn't eaten since dinner THE NIGHT BEFORE, and BARELY got that last skill point before the carpool pulled off without him! In fact, it might have... He may have walked to work this day!)

Walt takes it easy for the rest of the day, understandably. On the tail-end of the tiki bed purchase is a tiki-canvas purchase and now his outdoor living space is super Disneyland-y and lit by torches.

And Walt still makes the best faces ever.

He skills in a more timely manner this time and heads to work in a bright green mood. It's been a couple of days since Kaylynn (well, technically one day because she left yesterday at sunrise; but a long day, nonetheless). So when he gets home with another promotion and sees he has the afternoon off, he calls her up and invites her over to take care of a certain want he's rolled in the past forty-eight hours.

That's his plan, anyway. My plan is for him to make friends with the coworker who followed him home because I'm not so blinded by my excitement to queuing up heirs and heiresses that I don't notice he needs plus one friend for his next promotion.

Walt spends so much time chatting and telling jokes to his Nameless Coworker (sorry, can't remember his name) that Kaylynn heads toward the edge of the lot to just forget it and go home. So I send Walt after her and with the tiki table, a stinky cereal bowl, and Nameless Coworker as their witnesses...

...Walt and Kaylynn get engaged. Which, of course, means the wedding is NOW, since it's a legacy.

Much to the disapproval of Judgy Nameless Coworker, apparently.

Walt boots Nameless Coworker so that he can throw a wedding party and actually have someone to invite. (N.C. and Kaylynn are the only two people Walt has met so far.) Walt makes another of his financially sound decisions and blows $700 (?) on a tiki wedding arch. Are you surprised? You better not be. I must have picked up a castaways set somewhere along the way. And so, until I can get cram some more Disney-themed CC into my Downloads folder, Adventureland and The Tiki Room are on Walt's mind and in his home.

Walt throws the party, invites the guests, and promptly doesn't invite them in so he can greet a walk-by (Linda, who will not be referred to as Nameless Neighbor from this point forward only because this screenshot with her name in it exists) instead.

Linda, it seems, will be attending this well-planned, not-sudden wedding -- in some kind of tennis dress, maybe?? I'm honestly not sure what EA was going for when they added that outfit to the athletic wear.

It is at that point that things take a sudden turn for the naked.

The very naked.

The very unexplained naked.

Me, too, Nameless Coworker.

Anyway, so this is how the wedding day went...

I have honestly not seen a pair of more judgy-looking sims than Linda and Nameless Coworker. Maybe in some other universe, on some other lot, these two will turn out to be starcrossed lovers, brought together in their judginess and united by a mutual disgust of bride-and-groom nudity.

Maybe.

You may never have seen this before, folks... There is is! The backside of... Walt Disney!

I don't actually have an explanation for why Walt and Kaylynn tossed their clothes at the foot of the wedding arch in the middle of the reception. Just as quickly as it happened, it was over -- much to the relief of Nameless Coworker and Linda, who shows herself to the fridge for some noms. Not that they can keep their hands off each other over the clothes, either.

Time to nudge them towards that wedding arch and then step back and let this legacy happen, apparently.

Linda and her can of juice (why does their juice come in a can?) attend the ceremony. And to be honest, I actually moveobjects-ed her over there because she was occupying 50% of my tiki chairs and Walt couldn't afford anymore for the wedding.

Oh, look, and Stinky Cereal Bowl is there, too!

Nameless Coworker and some other lady (Danielle or something? I forget) show up mid-nuptials. And to be honest, I have no idea where that other lady came from. Walt has never met her, but her face popped up on the list of sims to invite to the wedding. And Kaylynn wasn't part of the household yet, so, shrug.

The newly weds cut the cake beside their palm tree of love. They're actually a good match -- Walt's Lifetime Want is to reach his Golden Anniversary and Kaylynn wants to marry off six kids.

But most importantly, Kaylynn moves in with $4,000!

If Walt has money in his pocket, then it's time to make another responsible $$$ decision!! First up, Kaylynn gets a makeover that includes a whole new wardrobe. I want to challenge myself to set everyone's wardrobes through the heirs and heiresses at every age, but we all know that's not going to happen. How many kids before I let them walk around in whatever they spin up in?? Honestly, ≤1.

Anyway, included in Kaylynn's new wardrobe is a proper wedding dress. I slap some new hair on her, change the make-up, and send her off into the reception to eat more cake and befriend Random Wedding Guest so that Walt can get a promotion tomorrow.

Not pictured is Walt doing the same, sealing the deal with Nameless Coworker.

It takes I don't know how much $ to set new clothes for Kaylynn, but the most important thing is it takes exactly enough for the Disneys to get a hot tub! A TIKI hot tub! Naturally, right? Responsible and financial! Honestly, I should have spent this money on walls. Or a shower.

Kaylynn has suddenly rediscovered her affinity for clothing and actually is wearing a swimsuit (though it doesn't look like it in the picture), only 33% of her hot tub mates are clothed.

This wedding has apparently been rated M and honestly it's probably all the booty that made this a roof raiser.

The party ends. Kaylynn won't get out of the hot tub, not even when I fast forward on Speed 3, but we can work with that. Right, Walt?
.

 Right.

They're actually a cute couple. Their neutral faces will make lovely neutral heirs and heiresses.

But before I go, I'll just leave this here.

And this, to remind you that Walt makes the best faces ever.

And they must really be a good couple because Kaylynn is willing to be tackled, underwater, by this face.

That is all.
